More PHS Homecoming fun! Students and staff dressed for Wacky Wednesday grouping up and dressing in "rhyme without a reason" costumes or mismatched, wild outfits. They also had a rock, paper, scissor tournament during passing period and at lunch. Sophomores win the daily outstanding class competition activity bringing in 50 points for their grade-level! That brings the totals to:
Seniors: 140 points
Sophomores: 80 points
Juniors: 10 points
Freshman: 0 points










The Lady Vikings drop a hard fought battle to Chanute in volleyball tonight. These ladies are fun to watch. Go Vikes!!
The Lady Vikings Volleyball team with a 25-22, and 25-17 win over Fort Scott. What a great student section!! They play Chanute around 8:00 this evening. Come out and support.

Students set sail on a Viking Voyage today during passing periods to find hidden Victor the Viking logos. There were 10 logos hidden in common areas each worth 10 "outstanding class" (OC) competition points. Grade-levels are competing against one another this week for these OC points. The class with the most OC points on Friday will receive free entry into the Homecoming dance. More activities for OC points to come! The current standings are:

Juniors - 10 points

Student in 6th hour advanced graphic design work on designing chip bags for their own invented brand of chips.


A yearbook student spends time taping raw edges of senior banners, creating neat, borderless seams, so the banners look nice being displayed publicly at the football stadium.

PHS students showed their spirit on Day 2 of Homecoming week, dressing in luau or tacky traveler clothes. Wacky Wednesday's theme is "Rhyme Without Reason", so find those crazy socks, out-of-the ordinary outfits, and crazy hair styles to show your Viking Spirit!

Introduction to Skilled Trades and General Auto 1 made progress on the trailer project. A lot of cleaning, sanding, taping and painting happening. A new jack and some slick graphics are next!

PHS art students in Ms. Vincent's class made plaster casts of their hands Friday. This week students will use the casts to create art by altering the hand to turn it into something else or do something that places the hand in a different environment.

The Vikings drop their varsity football game to KC-Christ Prep 6-52. They will be back in action against Baxter Springs this Friday for Homecoming.
The annual Parsons High School "Apply Kansas" event is scheduled for Tuesday, October 7th. Apply Kansas is a statewide campaign in which high schools host an event to help seniors apply to college. The purpose of Apply Kansas is to increase the number of students applying, enrolling, and succeeding in college or other post-secondary endeavors.
To gear up for Apply Kansas, the PHS faculty and staff took part in the "Why Apply?" Day September 19th by sharing why they think students should apply for continuing education opportunities.
