Last year Parsons High School donated the 3/4 scale Humvee they spent 20 years building, to the Pathways To Freedom Committee, to help them raise funds for construction of their veterans memorial. The committee planned to auction off the Humvee as is, but learned if they make modifications, such as installing a protective firewall, they can potentially generate four times the amount of revenue at auction. The committee decided to invest a little to hopefully make a lot, so with the help of PHS students' muscles, they took the Humvee to have the metal work done on it at The Body Shop. Drafting teacher Bruce Rea said he and PHS students remain committed to seeing their donation through to the end sale. Once the metal work is done, he said he believes PHS Video Production students are planning on making a promotional video to show off the Humvee, which students from every department have contributed to over the course of its design and construction. KSN's News Photographer Darin McCann was there to cover the the story.
