Students work on prepping their design for individual projects and start cutting with the help of Mr. Helton during Viking Workshop
Hope Smith's fifth hour students examined artifacts, or replicas, from the Santa Fe Trail, courtesy of a Traveling Trunk from the Kansas Historical Society. Students tried to determine what the items were and/or their purpose. Some were easy, but some were not. The activity culminated their comparative studies between the Oregon Trail, used for emigration of people to new areas and the Santa Fe Trail, used as a commercial trade route by merchants traveling between Mexico and the U.S.
