Parsons Chess team participated in the Chanute Middle School Chess tournament on Saturday, March 7th in Chanute. In the K-8 Division there were 83 participants were representing 15 teams. Parsons Middle School had 4 participants. Gabriel Klonowski was our high point medalist with 4 wins, earning the 15th place medal! Wyatt Hickman also had 4 wins and earned the 25th place medal. Alex Cook won 3 points out of 6 matches. Newcomer Ivan Stammer won 1.5 games for his first tournament. As a team they earned 9th out of 15 teams.
We are wrapping up our Chess season. The team will be attending the Kansas State Chess Tournament this upcoming weekend in Emporia. We have 4 students eligible to participate in this tournament.

Last week, Mr. Rea and some of his students came to demonstrate what they do in class! We were very impressed!



Mrs. Peak's library classes play Library Bingo game this week for chances of winning a 3D printed prize. On Wednesday, it was Mrs. Millar's eighth graders who were able to play bingo.
As we prepare to wrap up another nine weeks, Mrs. Peak in the library has completed another round of 3D print requests. Mrs. Peak received 139 Google requests for a 3D print, with only 17 being done incorrectly. Students have to submit a request using a Google form and the item must take less than 4 hours to print, be appropriate, it is a Bambu file, and must have included the link. Students will be able to make another request after returning from Spring Break. Here are just a few of the last requests that were printed.

The Leadership class got to spend time at Lincoln today with their kindergarten buddies. 💛 Leadership is about being a positive role model and building meaningful relationships. 💙 I'm proud of our students for showing kindness, patience, and responsibility while having fun with our youngest learners!





Eighth-grader Brody Ellis designed this flyer to advertise the sale of the Parsons Middle School Yearbook. Orders can be made online or by filling out an order form, which is available in the main office.

Shoutout to 8th graders Chris Cornell and Owen Laywell from Mr. Campmier’s Technology class!
These two designed and built a LEGO truck , complete with a working crane. The students can actually drive it around the school and can pick up small objects.


Spring Sports are among us! Track and Field, Tennis, and Golf will kick off in the upcoming weeks. Student athletes will have their player meetings during next week, where coaches will provide schedules and more information! Go Vikes!

7th grade FACS students got a quick lesson in upholstery repair while recovering Ms. Beery's classroom stools with a repurposed curtain.






All 6th-8th FACS students learned names and uses of kitchen utensils, bakeware and cookware, as well as small and major appliances to prepare for their Foods units





6th Grade FACS learned the proper way to measure a variety of ingredients, and shared their knowledge with classmates.









8th graders toured the campus of Labette Community College to see all the program they offer post high school!










Boys Basketball finished their season at Coffeyville last night! The 8th grade toughed out a win in a very close game. Good job to all and Go Vikes!

It is time to order Parsons Middle School yearbooks. Jayce Bankhead created this flyer for the middle school yearbook class. It has all of the information needed to order a book online.

There will be a Parsons High School/Middle School Orchestra Concert Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. in the PHS Auditorium.
