PMS chess team had a very strong performance in the Royster Middle School Chess Tournament this weekend. We had 4 MS students participate in the tournament. Davis Clark and Timmy Chen led the team to a 1st place team win with a score of 20 points. Davis and Timmy finished the day with perfect scores of 6 wins - 0 losses!! Awesome playing!! Davis won the 1st place individual medal with tie breaker points, Timmy won the 2nd place medal, and Lucas Fugate earned 3rd place with a score of 5 points. Hulleah Tsinhnahjinnie scored 3 points towards the team win. There were 7 teams participating with 47 players in the K-8 Division. Kyle Chen participated and earned 24th place in the K-8 Division.
Parsons High School participated in the K -12 division. A.J. Jenkins earned 22nd. medal individually with 3 wins. Eli Koger earned 24th place with 3 wins. There were 11 HS teams participating with 48 participants in the K-12 Division.
This is the last regular tournament of the season before State Chess, March 14th in Emporia.

Hello. I wanted to reassure you that your children are safe. There was an incident at the middle school today involving a student. There was a police presence, as well as DCF and Labette Mental Health. School has remained open but the office is closed until the issue is resolve. Please be patient as we work through this issue. Again, everyone in the school is safe.

In an effort to disinfect our buildings and cut down on student and staff absences, the district custodians mist all areas of the buildings monthly to get rid of germs. During the flu season, the process is done every two weeks in all Parsons Schools.
Our winners of the Skittles Guessing Game and also the Book vs. Movie basket was announced today! And I believe someone knew I needed some chocolate after running the Book Fair all week.
