Ashley:
What are your plans after high school?
After high school, I will be attending Labette Community College. While there, I will complete my Associate’s degree in Nursing before transferring to a university. My end goal is to earn my Master’s degree in nursing.
What is your favorite memory of high school?
My favorite memory of high school is being a part of the cheer team. While a part of the cheer team, I was able to be involved/go to all of the basketball and football games for the past 4 years. State basketball and state cheer are my favorite memories from cheering.
Caitrin:
What are your plans after graduating from high school?
I plan on attending LCC for two years, then going to Pitt State to get my degree in elementary education. I hope to eventually have a degree in Library science and be able to teach high school history.
Who do you aspire to become?
I want to become someone who’s there for people. I want to be someone whose door is always open in case a friend needs somewhere to crash. I want to be a good person.
What is your number one goal in life?
I want to travel the world and surround myself with people who always push me to be my best. I want to be happy in my life and with the career and people I choose.

Today we recognize Trevor Strathe and Lexia Marinez.
Trevor:
There are many great memories made in high school, it is hard to pick just one. However, the thing I think I will miss most about it is being able to go from class to class, or even year to year coming in and building different types of relationships with everyone. Watching underclassmen come in and change from freshman to sophomores or even the way my class has changed. With that being said the different personalities all mixing is when the best memories are made.
I feel as if my greatest accomplishment was being able to be fluid throughout the years. Everything changes throughout the four years of high school, classmates, teachers, classes, administrators. Being able to be fluid and adapt to the changes is very important, I feel like I took a different route than most people thought I would and that is an accomplishment to me and I am proud to be where I am today.
Lexia:
The person who has been the greatest influence in my life is my mother. She has taught me a multitude of important lessons such as maintaining strength, resilience, and how to face adversity with grace. She is everything I aspire to be not only as a woman but as a person in general. I want to make her proud with everything that I do.
I aspire to become the change in the world. I want to make a positive difference in the lives of everyone around me. I want to be a leader, someone to look up to and admire. I believe it is important to always be kind no matter what situation I may be facing and I stand by that. I will continue to spread kindness for the rest of my life.
I don’t know that I can choose a favorite memory because I have made so many great ones at Parsons High School. From all of the basketball games (which is most definitely my favorite sport to watch), to making at least one new friend each year, high school has brought me so much joy. I will never forget how it felt to live in each and every one of those wonderful memories.
In a January these 3 girls went and competed at FCCLA district STAR competition in the event Chapter Service Project Portfolio. They placed first in districts with a gold rating and an almost perfect score, and advanced to Compete at the state level.
Due to COVID-19, state competition went from an in person competition to be a virtual one. On Monday April 13th, these girls competed and presented their event via Zoom from 3 different places. It took lots of extra practice, trying to figure out how to do it from 3 separate locations via video!
These girls showed them what it truly means to be a Viking and took lemons and turned them to lemonade. Today we received an email stating that once again they placed FIRST in the state of Kansas beating out all other groups who competed and qualified to advanced to Nationals In July with a gold rating!

Quinten:
After high school I plan to attend LCC for 2 years and get my associate degree. I then plan to obtain my bachelor's degree for criminal justice.
My favorite memory from PHS was all the fun jokes and games we played with Mr. Duroni. There are more memories with all my teachers and students that I am grateful to have made and been a part of.
Nikki:
My favorite memory of high school was choir. I started choir in 7th grade and ever since it was always my favorite hour of the day. I loved the music we made as a group, the environment of the classroom, and the friendships made throughout the years. Choir will forever hold a place in my heart. ️
The greatest influences in my life are my family. They’ve always encouraged me to make the best of my abilities and support me no matter what. They’re my biggest support system and I couldn’t thank them enough.

What are your plans after graduating from high school?
To attend Labette Community College for two years and then PSU
What was your greatest accomplishment during high school?
Making good grades and on course of making all A's this last semester.
Taylor:
What are your plans after graduating high school?
My plans after graduating high school are to continue my nursing career at LCC and become an OBGYN in the near future. I would also like to further my passion in the art field as a secondary option!
Who has been the greatest influence in your life? Why?
Honestly it took me a long time to decide this, the greatest influence in my life is Mrs. Quarton, she’s always been one of those teachers that encourages me to do things and helps me when it’s needed. She’s just someone that really deserves a lot more than she gets credit for.
Most memorable thing about me?
Most memorable thing about me would probably be my attitude it took a lot to overcome the terrible one I had. Most teachers know what I’m talking about. Lol.

Noah:
What are your plans after graduating high school?
My plan after graduating high school is to attend Pittsburgh State University to pursue a degree in plastics engineering.
What is your favorite memory from high?
This is a hard one to answer because of all the amazing opportunities that Parsons High School has given me but the Skills USA trips gave me some of my greatest memories. Sophomore year competition was the most fun with the ”dance” battle I had with a random kid to missing going to nationals because I wore a jacket during the competition, which still upsets me to this day. Junior year trip was fun because of the people. I got along with everyone there and the trip to the mall was quite interesting I have to say.
Coming to Parsons was the best decision I have ever made. It allowed me to become the person I am today with all the opportunities to better yourself and opportunities to make friends with so many people from very different backgrounds then each other. Thank you Parsons High School for making high school the better then I could have imagined.
Mariah:
Plans After High School
After I graduate high school I will be attending Labette Community College to finish up classes for my bachelor’s degree. I will then attend Pittsburg State University to obtain a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. I then hope to get accepted in a physical therapy program. Besides schooling I will be taking advantage of social gatherings, travel opportunities, and spending time with friend and family and never take them for granted.
Who Do You Aspire to become?
My whole life I have been surrounded by strong women. Whether it was at school, work, or at home I was encircled by their strength, dedication, and independence. My mom and grandma have never failed to embrace those qualities. They have pushed me when I thought I couldn’t achieve my goals and supported me to reach along the way as well. I aspire to become half as passionate, dedicated, hardworking, and as loving as them.
Who Has Been The Greatest Influence In Your Life?
My mom had me at a young age and for the longest time it was just her and I. With all odds against her, my mom proved everyone wrong. Her strength led her to take care of me, herself, and to still attend college. Her hard work led her to get a double masters in curriculum and instruction and in administration. She has always accepted and supported no matter the circumstances. She is my rock, my best friend, and has taught me lessons that I will keep close to my heart forever. The love we have for each other will last forever and always. She has no clue how much I look up to her, respect her, and aspire to be like her.
We are excited to announce that Kansas teachers, students and parents just got a new partner in their continuous learning efforts.
Thanks to the support of Kansas Public Broadcasters, Kansas students will receive supplemental education content by way of a new television program produced by Kansas PBS stations and KSDE, and hosted by local teachers. The new program called Learning Across Kansas will begin airing the week of April 20.
Each 30-minute segment, individually produced for elementary, middle school and high school students, will feature grade-specific educational content delivered by our very own Kansas teachers who serve on KSDE’s Continuous Learning Task Force.

Anthony:
My greatest accomplishment during high school was getting the opportunity to participate in the biggest state track meet in the nation, alongside some of my closest friends.
One of my favorite memories in high school, was being a part of one of the best football teams and having a great season. Despite losing, to top it off, I got to end Gage Friess’s last pass for an 80 yard touchdown.
Alexis:
Who has been the greatest influence in your life?
My sisters always have, and always will be the greatest influences in my life. Anytime I’m close to giving up entirely, I think about them looking up to me. They probably don’t realize it, but their the reason I’m still here, and at least trying.
What is your number one goal in life?
To be happy.
What is your favorite memory of high school?
My favorite memories of high school were the class bonfires. Our class had a way of coming together and creating something special. Everyone was included, everyone’s opinions mattered. Everyone was welcome. The class of 2020 always made sure to make everyone feel loved, and wanted. These bonfires are my favorite memory of that.

Aidan:
What are your plans after graduation?
I plan on attending LCC and getting my Gen. Ed’s done, afterwards I plan on getting a degree in architecture.
Who has been the greatest influence in your life?
Mr. Rea has taught me since my freshman year and he made me realize what I wanted to do with my life.
Ashley:
I plan to attend Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri. There I will pursue a biology degree. In the future I would really enjoy becoming a professor in a research-oriented university to satisfy my love for teaching others and my love for research. My goal has always been to help and inspire others and I believe I can achieve my goal by pursuing this profession.
I have one most important goal in my life. That goal is to create a positive impact. I aspire to love those around me. By loving others I want to be someone to count on for anything. If you need advice, someone to grab coffee with, or a shoulder to cry on, I will be there for you. I want to be remembered for my compassion. I also want to use my skills to leave a positive impact on my community. I want to continue volunteering and giving back for all my life. I am passionate about making the world a better place, with action, patience, and a smile.
My favorite memory of high school is a collection of memories from all the friends I have made along the way. Although I knew few to no students going into my first day of high school, throughout the last four years I have been able to grow with and closer to so many incredible people: teachers and staff who have supported me endlessly, students who have cried together, and friends who have shown me so much love. I am so grateful to have gotten to know these people. 2016-2020 staff and students of Parsons High School, thank you all for everything. I will cherish the memories always.

Daquan:
What am I going to do after high school?
I plan to go play football somewhere and try to make it pro. If that don’t work out as plan then I’ll become a welder or construction worker.
What’s my number one goal in life?
My number one goal in life is to make it pro so I can give back to the community.
Kirari:
My favorite memory of high school is being a part of my US history Class. I thought I like to study in the first time in my life. I love my classmates and Mr. Reid.
My greatest accomplishment during high school was being part of the clubs. I couldn't do any clubs in my high school in Japan because I needed to study in extra school until 10:00 pm. I couldn't do any sport but I could try anything here because I had a lot of great people who cheer me up. I could realize not only how fun to do sport, but also I could realize how much fun it is to watch and cheer the players. I started track but I couldn't continue anymore, but I thought I want to try track because cross country was so fun. I love Vikings!!
Major shout-out to Alyssa Gharmalkar: She has met all the requirements and will be Parsons HS latest NSDA Academic All American. This award requires excellence in competitive speech/debate and exceptional academic achievement. Congratulations!
This is a copy of what was sent out to all students this morning. I'm putting it here because I know that many parents follow this page. I hope this helps clarify how we are working with grades during the next several weeks.
Grades: We have been given a lot of information from the state regarding grades. Early on, some of it was conflicting which led to some confusion on our part. However, that has been cleared up and here is what the situation is.
Continuous learning means that you continue your learning, albeit a little bit different than we did at the beginning of the semester. That means that teachers will be asking for you to participate in opportunities to show your learning.
One of the things that is going around is that your grades can't drop. That isn't necessarily true. If you do what is assigned to you, then your grade won't fall. If you decide NOT to do anything, or do very little, then your grade will reflect your lack of participation (which means it can drop).
If you do just the minimum, then your grade should stay where it is, but you HAVE to do the work. If you do more than is asked or if you do what is asked and you do it very well, then your grades can improve.
This really isn't a lot different than what would be required in a regular classroom, it just looks different.
I wanted everyone to hear this from me as there is a lot of misinformation out there. Please feel free to share this with your parents and as always, if there are any questions, please ask.

What is your number one goal in life?
To be the best me i can be and hopefully being successful in following my dreams

The BONFIRES for sure! Class of 2020 Didn’t go!

What is your favorite memory from high school?
I honestly have to say all 4 of my years of high school have been the best, but my favorite memory is probably sophomore year when we had our school bonfire and we won every competition. It was a blast.
What is most memorable about me?
I think the most memorable thing about me would probably be my smile, but my friends would say my horrible driving.
What are your plans after graduating from high school?
Even though the corona interrupted my senior year doesn’t mean I’m still not going to succeed and do bigger and better things. I am planning on going to Labette Community College and taking my general courses because I’m not sure what I want to do yet. I want to do something that makes me want to get up and go to work every day. Something that makes me happy.

Reece:
I plan to earn a welding certificate as well as some sort of engineering degree such as electrical or mechanical. I want to be able to use my mind as well as my hands in my work. I really hope I can find a job outside of college and be able to settle down with my skills.
I want to find happiness. I want to live a stress free life, although that isn’t quite possible. I hope I can find a job I’m happy with, someone I’m happy with, in a place I’m happy in. I think that is my ultimate dream.
Yanet:
Four years ago I realized dentistry was really something I wanted to pursue in life. Although at the time I was far younger than I am now, I am really persistent in that area. The path of my future was still blurry, and so I began to ask myself this question on a regular basis. Who do I aspire to become? I think about it almost everyday, and find myself in the same loop as before. I aspire to become the best version of myself, and with that, work in the dental field. The opportunity of making a positive impact on someone everyday is one of the many things I look forward to, as well as, making a positive impact on myself and continuing to nurture my relationships.
My number one goal in life is to get into Dental school, have a happy healthy family of my own, and buy a house, all while surrounded by family!
