We are going to let you come and clean out your gym lockers next week. There are some stipulations that we will put in place though, just to make sure we are following local and state guidelines.
Clean out will take place next week, Monday-Wedensday from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM. Come to the main office doors and someone will let you in when we are ready for you as we are only going to be allowed one or two students at a time. Once in the locker room, you will be given a trash bag and you can put all of your belongings in it.
Staff will be present to assist with the process of clean out. We ask that you follow social distancing protocols at all times through the process.

Today we recognize Arianna Hinman.
Arianna:
What are your plans after graduating high school?
I plan to attend Labette Community College to finish prerequisites and then to apply for their nursing program.
What is your favorite memory of high school?
My favorite memory of high school is playing sports. My teammates and I always had fun no matter the outcome.
Last packet pickup for the year is Monday, May 4. Packets will be available for those that requested them from 11:30-12:30 and 5-6 PM. We will also start collecting school owned books that day. If you are finished with a book, please drop it by.
See you Monday. Go Vikes!
Lots of questions about graduation, and that's just fine! We also have questions, but are starting to put together a plan, anticipating the state and county relaxing the restrictions on gatherings. The plan is still being developed, but we want everyone to have a date to plan around. Graduation for PHS seniors will be June 6. The later date gives us about another 30 days after the anticipated stay-at-home order being lifted next week. Of course, that could change from day-to-day.
We will release more detailed information as we make solid plans and hear more from our state and local officials.
Thank you for your patience. Listening to other administration from across the state, there are as many different plans and ideas as there are schools it seems. No one has the "right" answer, but is trying to do what's best for their kids and communities.
Seniors: Mark that date on your calendars! June 6! Times and plans still to come. Go Vikes!

Jamie:
My plan after high school is to go to Iola for cosmetics school or another school that has a girls wrestling team or be a teacher and a wrestling coach.
The biggest influence in my life is my dad because he never gave up on me or my brother.
The best thing I did in high school was wrestling. It was fun and I wish I could go back and do it all again.

Today we recognize Trevor Strathe and Lexia Marinez.
Trevor:
There are many great memories made in high school, it is hard to pick just one. However, the thing I think I will miss most about it is being able to go from class to class, or even year to year coming in and building different types of relationships with everyone. Watching underclassmen come in and change from freshman to sophomores or even the way my class has changed. With that being said the different personalities all mixing is when the best memories are made.
I feel as if my greatest accomplishment was being able to be fluid throughout the years. Everything changes throughout the four years of high school, classmates, teachers, classes, administrators. Being able to be fluid and adapt to the changes is very important, I feel like I took a different route than most people thought I would and that is an accomplishment to me and I am proud to be where I am today.
Lexia:
The person who has been the greatest influence in my life is my mother. She has taught me a multitude of important lessons such as maintaining strength, resilience, and how to face adversity with grace. She is everything I aspire to be not only as a woman but as a person in general. I want to make her proud with everything that I do.
I aspire to become the change in the world. I want to make a positive difference in the lives of everyone around me. I want to be a leader, someone to look up to and admire. I believe it is important to always be kind no matter what situation I may be facing and I stand by that. I will continue to spread kindness for the rest of my life.
I don’t know that I can choose a favorite memory because I have made so many great ones at Parsons High School. From all of the basketball games (which is most definitely my favorite sport to watch), to making at least one new friend each year, high school has brought me so much joy. I will never forget how it felt to live in each and every one of those wonderful memories.
In a January these 3 girls went and competed at FCCLA district STAR competition in the event Chapter Service Project Portfolio. They placed first in districts with a gold rating and an almost perfect score, and advanced to Compete at the state level.
Due to COVID-19, state competition went from an in person competition to be a virtual one. On Monday April 13th, these girls competed and presented their event via Zoom from 3 different places. It took lots of extra practice, trying to figure out how to do it from 3 separate locations via video!
These girls showed them what it truly means to be a Viking and took lemons and turned them to lemonade. Today we received an email stating that once again they placed FIRST in the state of Kansas beating out all other groups who competed and qualified to advanced to Nationals In July with a gold rating!
Way to go Kaitlyn Stinger, Rylee Harris and Dailyn Ortiz!
