This is a copy of the email sent out this morning to all HS parents. It went to whatever email is in Infinite Campus. In case you don't check email, or it went to spam, here it is!
Good Morning Viking Parents! I wanted to let you know a little bit more about the change in conferences this Spring. As part of Kansans Can, a state department initiative, students in grades 9-11 have been working on Individual Plans of Study. In their IPS, they explore careers and interests to start to explore what they want to do after high school. Part of this is having Student-Led Conferences once a year. This is a chance for your student to show you what their career interests are and what they think they might like to do after high school.
Students have started calling parents to set up a time on March 7 or March 9 for you to meet with them and their advisory teacher so they can share their IPS with you. Please, please, please take the 10 minutes out of your day to have that conversation with your student! The evenings are set up so that you will also have time to visit with your student's teachers, just like usual.
As with anything new, we are experiencing some trial and error. We hope that you find the evening beneficial and that you might learn something new about your student that you didn't know before!
Seniors: The seniors are not part of the IPS plan this year. They met as a group with the counselors every Wednesday during advisory time, but didn't do the IPS like the 9-11 graders did. Senior parents can come up either night and meet with their student's teachers during the open times, which will vary from teacher to teacher.
Everyone will be in the gym(s) so you can see when teachers have open times.
Of course, you are always welcome to email or call and talk to your student's teachers whenever you have questions or concerns.
Thank you and we hope to see everyone at conferences on March 7 or 9. Go Vikes!

The PMS/PHS Winter Band Concert and the PMS Beginning Choir Concert is canceled because of the weather and will be rescheduled.
